OHFA administers the Housing Choice Voucher Program and the Performance Based Contract Administration Program with the goal of providing rental assistance to low-income families, including those who have disabilities, who are elderly, or who are at great risk of homelessness.
Individuals who want to apply for a Housing Choice Voucher must register for an account.
Applicants apply to live in a PBCA apartment complex directly with the selected property.
OHFA now offers Emergency Housing Vouchers for individuals facing homelessness, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking. Eligibility is determined by one of OHFA's participating entities.
Portability in the Housing Choice Voucher program refers to the process in which a family can transfer or “port” their rental subsidy when moving to a location outside the jurisdiction of the Public Housing Agency (PHA) that first gave you the voucher when you were selected for the program (the initial PHA).
