OHFA Expands to Offer Down Payment Assistance

In 1980, OHFA expanded its reach by offering down payment assistance to Oklahoma homebuyers through the Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bond program. Participating lenders began reserving loans through the program on June 23 that year.

Articles published in the Daily Oklahoman that summer report swift interest from potential homeowners, with people lighting up phone lines and camping out in front of loan offices to reserve their share.

Thanks to the partnership of our dedicated network of mortgage lenders, we’re gearing up to celebrate a major milestone: later this year, the 70,000th Oklahoma homebuyer will close on a home with OHFA down payment support.
