On May 1, 1975, Governor David Boren signed the trust indenture that brought the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) to life.
For the next year, our founding leaders worked tirelessly to lay the groundwork for what was known then as the Section 8 Housing Subsidy Payments Program. By June 1976, OHFA proudly assisted its first clients – 3,200 Oklahoma families in need of rental assistance.
Fast forward half a century, and OHFA has grown to offer more than rental assistance. Today, we offer a wide range of resources, from down payment assistance for homebuyers to financing that creates vibrant new communities. We offer programs designed to assist our Oklahoma neighbors when they need it most.
We are incredibly proud of the positive impact we've made across Oklahoma and are excited for what the future holds. Stay tuned for more updates on OHFA's 50th Anniversary celebrations and our continued commitment to serving Oklahomans.
