Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) presented its 2022 Leading Light Lending Partner awards to the top five producing mortgage lending institutions during its Nov. 16 Board of Trustees meeting.

During the 2022 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, 1,175 buyers purchased homes utilizing OHFA’s down payment and closing cost assistance products. Leading Light Lending Partners are responsible for 45% of these loans.

Leading Light Lending Partners and their home city include:

First United Bank & Trust, Durant - 236 homeowners

Gateway Mortgage Group, Jenks - 178 homeowners

Stride Bank, Tulsa - 149 homeowners

Cornerstone Home Lending, Houston - 102 homeowners

Associated Mortgage Corporation (AMC), Tulsa - 93 homeowners

In presenting the awards, Valenthia Doolin, OHFA homeownership director, stressed the value of the agency's network of participating mortgage lenders.

“Homeownership is light in darkness for Oklahoma families, communities, and the entire state," said Doolin. "We could not fulfill our mission of increasing access to affordable homeownership without the intentional marketing, outreach, and loan origination from participating lenders."

About OHFA's Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance

Mortgage lenders work with OHFA to provide down payment and closing cost assistance to homebuyers in all 77 counties. Qualified homebuyers receive a 30-year fixed rate low-interest mortgage loan with 3.5 percent down payment assistance. Teachers, first responders, and state employees may also qualify for a special reduced interest rate.

When utilizing an OHFA loan product, buyers who bring their own down payment to the closing table may benefit from a lower interest rate and/or a reduced mortgage insurance coverage requirement on conventional loans.

Buyers interested in purchasing a home by utilizing OHFA's down payment and closing cost assistance can visit www.ohfa.org/homebuyers for more information.
