Oklahoma City Resident and First Mortgage Company Employee Recognized by Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency with Apex Award

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City resident and First Mortgage Company employee Valenthia Doolin received an Apex Award from Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency for contributions made in affordable housing from January to December 2006. Doolin received an Apex Award under the category of Friend of Affordable Housing. Presented July 19 at OHFA’s Board of Trustees meeting in Oklahoma City, the annual Apex Awards recognize people and organizations in Oklahoma committed to affordable housing.

As an assistant vice president for First Mortgage Company, Doolin led her company’s initiative to increase the homeownership rate of African Americans in Oklahoma, as well as others underserved by the mortgage industry. In the past four years, she has helped over 200 families achieve their goal of homeownership. Doolin extends her role beyond a traditional loan officer by teaching homebuyer education classes, organizing homeownership fairs, and working to diminish predatory lending.
