Resident and First Mortgage Company Employee Recognized by Oklahoma
Housing Finance Agency with Apex Award
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City resident and First Mortgage Company
employee Valenthia Doolin received an Apex Award from Oklahoma
Housing Finance Agency for contributions made in affordable housing
from January to December 2006. Doolin received an Apex Award under
the category of Friend of Affordable Housing. Presented July 19 at
OHFA’s Board of Trustees meeting in Oklahoma City, the annual Apex
Awards recognize people and organizations in Oklahoma committed to
affordable housing.
As an assistant vice president for First Mortgage Company, Doolin
led her company’s initiative to increase the homeownership rate of
African Americans in Oklahoma, as well as others underserved by the
mortgage industry. In the past four years, she has helped over 200
families achieve their goal of homeownership. Doolin extends her
role beyond a traditional loan officer by teaching homebuyer
education classes, organizing homeownership fairs, and working to
diminish predatory lending.
