Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency Offers Disaster Assistance to Tornado Victims

 PICHER –The May 10 tornado that hit the Town of Picher left more than 100 homes either destroyed or with major damage. Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency has announced assistance for low-income families affected by the storm.  

OHFA is providing rental assistance to these families through the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. Some families may also be eligible to receive assistance through the Section 8 Homeownership Program. The agency offers a special disaster preference to individuals affected by the storm. 

To find out more information, visit with an OHFA representative at the Disaster Recovery Center, located at the Picher Housing Authority Community Center. A representative from OHFA will be at the center on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. while the Disaster Recovery Center is operational.   Individuals may also call 1-800-256-1489, extension 239.
